LEXUS Manchester, Continuing to Support Junior Rugby at Sedgley Park

Sedgley Park RUFC Junior & Youth section has been awarded the Sports England club mark level two, which shows our ongoing commitment to the safety and encouragement of our young players. Well done to everyone who helped us to achieve this award. Sedgley Park where one of the first rugby clubs to be awarded the Community Rugby Active Sports Seal of Approval accreditation and we have also gained Sports England Clubmark certificate.

The Seal of Approval recognises the ability of a club's youth section to provide young rugby players with a safe, effective and child friendly environment. Sedgley Park has Mini, Junior and Youth teams from Under 7's through to Under 18's Colts team and all benefit from qualified coaching experience and a well-managed supervision system.

Recently Sedgley Park boosted its coaching platform by making a professional appointment to oversee youth rugby development where junior players are coached and developed through a pathway to the top and ultimately into the 1st XV.

Sedgley RUFC is justifiably proud that we are one of the largest sporting clubs in Lancashire and Greater Manchester with approximately 300 Mini, Junior and Youth Players on our books and teams from U7’s through to U18’s. We are confident that we can provide safe high quality facilities for adults and juniors alike. 

New players are always welcome. Rugby Union is one of the most popular and enjoyable team games a young person can play, with benefits for personal development,sports skills and fitness. All our players are coached by qualified coaching staff and play in teams according to age groups as determined by school year. For example, Under 7s team will be in year 2 and have their birthday between 1st September and 31st August. Each season commences on the first Sunday in September.

All Mini & Junior rugby is played on a Sunday morning at 11.am with training sessions on Wednesday evening at 6.45pm. Our Youth (Colts) teams play on Sunday afternoon at 12.30 with training sessions on Tuesday evenings. Sedgley Park has always relied on volunteers to help run the section and I would like to thank all our executive, individual team management and volunteers for their help and dedication. We are always on the lookout for new players, coaches and of course volunteers.
